Gerald Albright
Saxophone, soul and unmistakable groove.
Meet Gerald
Gerald Albright brings saxophone, bass and a deep R&B sensibility to contemporary jazz. His solo career began with Just Between Us in 1987. Decades of recordings and collaborations have made his soulful sound a familiar presence in smooth jazz.
Raised in Los Angeles, Albright studied piano before developing his voice on saxophone and bass. His versatility led to extensive session work across R&B, gospel and other styles, alongside his own recording career. His catalog includes Groovology, the Norman Brown collaboration 24/7, and Slam Dunk. He later established Bright Music, releasing projects under his own label.
His recent work continues that blend of melody and funk. Hot Chocolate, his newest EP, features three songs and a collaboration with vocalist Lalah Hathaway.
